This is a well-written niche book. When I say "niche," I mean a book that will appeal to pre-hospital EMS, flight personnel, ED staff, nurses, law enforcement - and anyone who is interested, perhaps, in one day being one of those folks!Greg is a great teacher, practitioner, friend, and now a writer of this, his second memoir.I highly recommend this book for the actions recalled; the sense of humor that shines through; the often touching, personal thoughts expressed; the universal themes of compassion, pain, love, loss, sorrow, joy, and redemption; and the extensive display of quick thinking skills demonstrated by this experienced flight nurse.Many of his recollections resonated deeply with this retired trauma/flight nurse. Others made me laugh. All of the chapters introduce the reader to the heart of what it means to be an emergency services responder - someone who puts himself or herself on the line to help others.This would be a great gift for someone who wants to know what it's like to be on the front lines. It would also be a great gift for anyone who has walked in those same flight nurse boots.
